There are major changes of the dates for the 2009 Summer Carnival of Racing. In 2009 the Cadbury Tasmania Derby is now nine days prior to the AAMI Hobart Cup

In 2009 Derby Day will benefit from the earlier date separating it from the Hobart Cup/Regatta long weekend. Derby Day is traditionally a family day with lots of free activities for children. Saturday at the Hobart Regatta is also family focussed and the TRC believe Hobart’s population is too small for competing events on the same day. The TRC is now working to make Cadbury Tasmanian Derby Day bigger and better, with more on course attractions for all the family.

Hobart Cup runners now have the opportunity to use Derby Day as an important lead in event for the AAMI Hobart Cup Day, resulting in better fields and racing on Derby Day.

Picnic Marquees

Looking for something different in 2008?  Why not consider a picnic on the Corporate Marquee Lawn in your very own marquee on AAMI Hobart Cup Day.

The site includes a 3m x 3m marquee placed on a 3m x 5m area of lawn. The marquees are available at a cost of $600 each.   Catering and pre-purchased drinks are available, more details  from the TRC office.

Leger Car Park

TRC members can reserve Derby and Cup Day car spaces from 1 August 2008. Bookings for non-TRC members starts from 31 October 2008, giving financial members three months head start on bookings.

The cost of Leger car spaces are:

In the interests of comfort and safety, the number of patrons in the Leger is restricted.   Patrons accessing the Leger area  will be required to wear a wrist band and twelve will be issued with each  car space purchased.  Up to four additional  wrist bands may be purchased for each car space at $30 each. The wrist bands allow entry to the Leger Car Park but not  to the main spectator areas.

Terrace View Restaurant

The Terrace View Restaurant is the place to be on AAMI Hobart Cup day. The cost for TRC members is $200 including beverages. For non-members the cost is $295 and this includes beverages, gate entry and a visiting members pass.  

Cadbury Derby Day Terrace View Restaurant pricing has been set at $75 for members and $115 for non-members.  This Non-member price includes Visiting Member pass, Gate Entry, a complimentary racebook and drink on arrival.

Corporate Marquees

Corporate Marquees are also available on Hobart Cup day and can be catered to suit your needs.  A minimum of 30 people are required for a typical marquee.  For any enquiries or if you would like to recieve a quote, phone the TRC on 62729492 for more information.  

Derby Day Entertainment- Dora the Explorer & Friends


Dora the Explorer is a 7 year old Latina girl who teaches children how to observe situations and solve problems as they explore Dora's world with her!  The show is highly interactive and Dora's young viewer's are encouraged to participate in her adventure.  This popular children's entertainment will be performing at Tattersall's Park on the 31st of January 2009, Cadbury Derby Day.  Dora will perform two shows on the main stage throughout the day so be sure you bring along the children and grandchildren for a family day of fun!
